evelopment/2012/1555/applicationdetails.htm Thank you to all our supporters We need your support on all our applications due to a very small minority of one NIMBY neighbour so please email WCC Planning Officer and support our ideas @ lucy.minting@wiltshire.gov.co.uk SOME REASONS WHY STONEHENGE CAMPSITE - Should be supported
SOME FACTS
1 Small Minority So what was all the fuss about? Its was about a small minority of locals ( 2-3 key individuals - less than 1% of the community) who thought that all campers are rowdy, it will devalue there houses, will spoil the landscape, that we are damaging the Fauna & Flora and that there will be no economic benifit ( They were joking!) and that the landscaping will not screen the site - ever!
2 Landscaping The site has been open for over almost 4 years since April 2009 , many of the hedges are already 4-5 ft high and we think the landscaping looks amazing! What do you think?
3 Economic Benifit The site has already brought over £50,000+ of economic benifit into the area for local people and businesses. One example on one night only was "on 29 April 2011 Royal wedding I went to the local Boot Inn for a drink or two - there were 31 people eating and drinking that night and 16 of those people ( Over 50%) were from the campsite and they spent over £350+ on food and drink! " It is utterly silly to say that local business do not get major benifit or do not support the site - Please tell me which pubs, farm shop, taxi firms and local businesses do not want support in these difficult times?
4 Demand Some locals said there was no demand? We are now getting between 80 -100 people visit our website every day . With visits from over 78 Countries to date. Why do we have a 115 Tents booked in and a waiting list for the Solstice. Of course this is yet another very silly suggestion and shows how un informed they are and how little they know.
5 Conclusion Common sense did prevail and a few small minded individuals will now have a lot more time to do good charitable work in the area and make sure the Lead dose not get stollen for the 3rd time off the Church roof!!
Thank You We would like to also give a big thank you to those pro Tourism Councilors for their help and support over the past 4 years - Councilors Hewitt, Councilor Divine & Councilor Westmoreland in particular ( Particularly after the efforts of a small and very vocal local NIMBY pressure group led by Martin & Rose Gairdner & Stephen Bush of Berwick St James ( The local Church Warden )who ran a prelonged negative campaign against the site and wanted the site closed!) - See Salisbury Journal article of 12 July 2011
I think Councilor Ian West ( Liberal Councilor) should hold his head in shame for his 4 year crusade against our campsite M 07786 734732
Updated 1 November 2012 Note: for the one or two Locals who are still anti the Campsite. . We have have been granted our Site Licence & have been Health & Safety inspected. We have won a David Bellamy Silver Award and a Visit Wiltshire 2* Grading.
We will be making further planning applications to improve our WC Shower & Sewage treatment facilities and to ensure we make it the very BEST campsite in South Wiltshire
